About the tour

Boys on Tour started in Bournemouth in 2006. Twenty-one editions later the idea is unchanged: a long weekend away, three good courses, and a proper competition with a trophy at the end of it.

The tour is run by a board of three chairmen, who choose the venue, book the golf and accommodation, and run the championship on the ground. The group is mostly regulars, with one founding member now on his 21st tour, and new players join most years.

2026 · Camiral

The 21st championship was played at Camiral Golf & Wellness near Girona, 1–4 October 2026, over the Stadium and Tour courses. It was the tour's first visit to a future Ryder Cup venue. The final round was cancelled when the course closed under weather warnings and flash flooding, so the championship was decided over two rounds. Anton McLaughlin took the title for the second time, eight years after his first.

The 2027 tour is in planning, with a return to UK golf on the shortlist.

Rules of play

The format

  1. Stableford, played off course handicaps.

  2. All three rounds count. The player with the most points across the three rounds is Champion Golfer of the Year.

  3. The defending champion has the honour of teeing off first to open the championship, playing with the board.

  4. On days two and three the field goes out in score order, with the leader teeing off last.
